8 Helpful Free Motivational Tools
2025 can be your best year ever! But getting where you want to go isn’t easy without a road map and even more difficult when you don’t know exactly where your destination is going to be! Here are some ways to keep yourself motivated along the way.
*Podcasts
You can keep your spirits lifted and get new inspiration from listening to experts and professionals, as well as ordinary people talk about things that you are passionate about. In a short amount of time you can learn a lot about something new, or be reminded about a fact that you already found to be interesting & inspiring. There are plenty of really great Podcasts out there to help get Moms and People motivated.
*Goals
Big and small we need them all! I personally am a goal setter, and I've found most people get motivated when setting them. I set mine for what I want to achieve daily, what I want to get done this month, and I also keep track and add to my list for the year and beyond! This gives me things to look forward to which tends to get me more hyped about achieving the outcome.
I always take a blank piece of paper or page at the beginning of the year and write out all the things I would like to do in the coming 365 days, and I find this exercise very exciting because I can get creative and honest about everything from little daily goals to bigger bucket list items.
*Affirmations
These are great because it's like having a friend speak beautiful words that go straight to your heart like cupid's arrow. It’s a way to show yourself love and kindness. We can be so harsh and get very down on ourselves (I know I can) and affirmations can bring us back up by reaffirming to ourselves our own personal power and strength.
You can read more about affirmations and see some suggestions in this article here on the website
*Journaling
Writing down your thoughts and feelings is a good way to stay motivated by reflecting on them when needed. It can help show you how far you’ve come and be a reminder of the journey you are still on. You can record your journal on your phone through voice to speech, or type them in the notes area. You could also download an app if you prefer to do that. For me, I enjoy paper and pen which I find gives me a little more creative freedom to explore what I am thinking, but I will admit that I am old school like that.
*Coloring Pages
Check out the Coloring Pages that we just added here!
Coloring is therapeutic at any age. These days you can find pages and coloring books with all sorts of themes and sayings. It's not only your children’s artwork that should adorn your fridge, but you can color too and show it off! Or place it somewhere that you can see it as a daily reminder of how awesome you are. The act of coloring while thinking of positive things is beneficial for both your mind & heart.
*Meditation
If you have little ones running around, then the thought of meditation might be the furthest thing from your mind – but hear me out. Having some quiet time will do anyone good and making that time for yourself is essential one way or another. That is self-care.
Whether its locking yourself in the bathroom for a shower or bath or staying up an extra 10 minutes longer than usual and turning off the TV to just sit or lay in bed.
My preference is to wake up a little earlier for my quiet time...but my kids are older now, and when they were little I used to get up in the middle of the night and have alone time then. Whatever works for you Mama!
*Vision Boards
I love these things. I love getting people together to make them, and I love looking at the board once it's complete. If you can, then have a gathering or join one where people sit and cut up magazines and things while talking about their dreams and goals and glueing/sticking their boards together. You could also take the pieces of things you’ve cut out and glue it all together by yourself because this is just as effective, as long as you create the board with love and intention.
*Books
Yes, you have to pay to buy books so they aren’t entirely free. However if you go to your local library you can borrow books for no cost, and the selection there is bigger than you could ever read through so there isn’t a limit on getting motivated this way. You can also ask around to friends and family to see if they have a book to recommend that you can borrow.
If you have felt limited by not having access to ways of getting yourself pumped up due to financial reasons, then consider trying something new from the list.
We didn’t write about an extra useful tool being your friends and family as support. You could organize a vision board day or book club and try to involve them. You could also talk about your goals and favorite podcasts with them. Sharing is caring and letting people know about what you are trying to achieve and where you are trying to go, will help you get there. All the best in 2025!
